The recent bursts of warm weather got me thinking about one of the most fun summer activities - SCOOTING!!

Ruckus

Admit it, you have been watching the euro dudes cruise around town on their Vespas for too long. Forget all the plastic styling and go with a legit choice - The Honda Ruckus. This thing has the essential steel frame, fat tires to go off road, and non of the crap you don’t need. The 1.3 gallon tank will keep you moving for over 100 miles…enough said.

Find a good deal at ATV Discounters or Scooter Depot, so when the mercury rises above 70, you are ready to rock.

As I bask in the Boulder sun and think about the coming summer, one word comes to mind. Windells. Many of us here at BDN have done our time at Windell’s Snowboard Camp on Mt. Hood, Oregon in the years past so I thought it befitting to see what they have in store for this coming summer.

Every year they seem to find ways to make camp better and better, from adding concrete features all over the campus and making B.O.B. better and better, to replacing the old wood spined out mini ramp with an all new concrete version! The mountain has been relatively unchanged until this summer however, when old man Windell rolls out the only tow rope on Mt. Hood. Best part, it’s private and only available to Windell’s Campers. Not gonna lie, this makes a Minnesota man drool. Let it be known, a BDN road trip is in the works to verify the awesomeness.

See if you can pick extended family members James Frederick, Reid, Dre, Molly Agguire…actually anyone who has or does work here is a friend indeed.

Although we didn’t agree with judges on all the dunks, Nate Robinson def stole the show from “Superman” this year. The short guys always look way cooler when they get up and throw down like Robinson can. Reminded me of this Big Boi track…

Red Bull Snowscrapers in NYC

Turns out my upcoming trip to Manhatten comes a week late to catch the Red Bull Snowscrapers event. Although the jump didn’t live up to its full potential, it’s an impressive structure and an event that you can bet will be bigger and better next year. Cheers to Red Bull for continually pushing action sports into bigger and more creative venues.

Best Fight Never?

You Bet! Who doesn’t like a good old fashioned Serbain vs Bosnian chair fight. Back in the day they would have used heavy ass wood chairs, but these drunk as a skunk sun soaked tennis hooligans made due with plastic chairs. Needless to say, little to no damage was done, but it was pretty hilarious to watch. The media says it started because Serbian Novak Djokovic defeated Bosnian Amer Delic, but we think it happened because the DJ mistakenly played the traditional chair fight song over the loudspeakers…

Why I didn’t get any sleep last night…

If you have been under a rock or just staring at yourself in the mirror for the last week, then you have been missing an incredible Australian Open. Easily one of the greatest matches in the recent tennis history took place over 5 hrs and 14 minutes last night between Verdasco and Nadal. The two Spaniards put on a heavy weight title for the ages that kept me in and out of sleep from 1am to 6am. Was it worth it? Duck yes it was! If you are even the slightest fan of the game, call in sick and watch the replay on ESPN2 right now.

Nadal on his Best Day Never. His next match was the Australian Open Championship versus Federer, and he won, proving true that no matter how good today was, there is always a better day ahead.
