I was stumbling around late night and ran into the BDN Times Square billboard!! So rad! I’m out here staying in the Rage Digi NYC apt on 55th and 6th this weekend.  We have a couple meetings here early next week.  I’m looking forward to hanging out and catching up with fellow BDN contributor and NYC local Mark Lloyd (aka Wombat).
Here are a few bangers I’m carring around…
Phoenix - “1901”
Lykke Li - Little Bit (DEATH TO THE THRONE REMIX!!)
Weezer - Troublemaker (DJ Am Remix)
Lil’ Wayne & Pharrell “Yes”
Tokyo Police Club - Be Good (RAC Remix)
M83 – Teen Angst (Death to the Throne remix)

posted on 05.03.09 Screwed In Houston

This is one of our favorite documentaries by one of the most trusted news reporters of our time, Trace Crutchfield of Vice Magazine. In part one of five of the ‘Screwed in Houston’ show, Trace heads to Houston to get acquainted with the chopped and screwed scene and put a little lean in his cup. Be sure to visit the VBS.tv site to see the other four installments, and his contributions to the Vice Guide To Travel Series: Rio, Rio For Partiers, and The High City. And for further examination, be sure to check his show on The Current called UnConventionally Yours, where he dug deep into two of our stomping grounds, Denver and Minneapolis, to spotlight the Democratic and Republican National Conventions of last summer and to find the pulse of these two great cities. Enjoy.

Although we’ve played this song about a million times, it still stands as one of our favorite tracks of recent. We were stoked to see the music video put a face and style to the sound. Keep checking the website for dates on the imminent record drop, and download the free “Kid Named Cudi” mixtape from 10Deep if you havn’t already, its well worth it.

currency curren$y music hype

I just recently was checking out XXL’s top 10 freshman in rap and came across New Orleans own Currency.  He gained some exposure on various mixtapes with Lil Wayne and spent several years on Cash Money / Young Money records before leaving late last year to pursue his career via the Fly Society label.  He’s been very productive of late pushin out 4 mixtapes in 4 months.

I know the fellow BDN contributors are getting sick of me hypin up this dude but I’m backing him for sure.  He’s got that swagger and creativity that many of these hippidyhoppers need to take notes on.
