I’ll admit resisted playing Rock Band for a bit but soon gave in after one game playing drums. So fun. This is a great example of the use of multi-player mode for mobile gaming which supports four players over Bluetooth. The $10 app lets you invite Facebook friends, and choose guitar, bass, drums or vocals. 20 tracks are included. Pretty awesome.

posted on 30.06.09 GOSK8 App Live!

I’m proud to share that GOSK8 has officially hit the market! The GOSK8 app is a new tool to play the traditional game of skate. We went to great lengths to spice the game up by adding three different skill levels (basic, medium, advanced) and four obstacle options (ledge, manual, transition, flat-ground), making it the only skate application of its kind.

GOSK8 is a true test of a skateboarders skill, ability and consistency. Instead of each skater performing tricks they are comfortable with (as in a traditional game of s.k.a.t.e.), skaters must physically perform whichever trick is determined by the “trick wheel”, which can be anything thing from a list of hundreds of tricks on different obstacles.

Professional skateboarder Danny Gonzalez had this to say about the Application” I love this app. The design is fresh and it doesn’t freeze like other apps. By adding in different skill levels and obstacles it makes an otherwise basic game of skate a lot more challenging”.

GOSK8 can be played on any iPhone or iPod Touch and is guaranteed to make any session at any spot more fun. For more info visit www.gosk8app.com

posted on 14.05.09 Apps: Bump

Bump is an app that basically solves the problem of having to manually input a new contact into your phone.  You select which contact fields you like to send over and then hold your phone in your fist and give the old college bro fist bump to your new friend who does the same.  This feature is great but it does have one small problem.  If you’re potential new friend doesn’t have the app they’ll have to download it before you can bro your way to getting their info.

This would be most effective as a native iPhone feature but its an amazing idea!

posted on 18.04.09 Apps: Coachella 09

Coachella has the right idea with there iPhone/iPod touch app for this years festival. The free app features a festival lineup, Coachooser (personal schedule), a photo upload section, friend finder and an interactive map.  They definitely hit the right feature set of but the overall interface came through very stock and unbranded. Connectivity issues may make using the interactive map somewhat tough.  I’d like to see artist profiles as part of the scheduling tool which would allow attendees to easily preview embedded 30 second clips and videos. Overall the app comes up a little short but its a step in the right direction for mobile apps and the festival experience.
