Wale finally dropped his new mixtape last week, “More About Nothing.” The much anticipated follow up to his first release “Mixtape about Nothing” has a few good features including Wiz Khalifa, Tre (of UCB), Avery Storm, Dre (of Cool & Dre), Daniel Merryweather and Waka Flocka. Not a fan of the spoken word tracks but there are some amazing verses elsewhere. Love that cover art too.

The BDN crew are about to embark on a most excellent weekend. In honor of Sir Rod Winston getting married later this summer, we along with an epic crew of friends are going to attempt the impossible…VEGAS x POWELL x VEGAS. One night in Sin City, two nights on Lake Powell, and another night in Skin City. Pray for us all.
So in honor of good times and your need for new mixtapes, I decided to honor my new home of San Diego with a lil tribute to the month of May. Last year I put out May Day while in Boulder, an epic 2 hour tour de sound. Well, upon arriving to SD a week back, its been cloudy quite a bit. WTF? Turns out, round these parts we have the infamous ‘May Grey’ and ‘June Gloom,’ which really just means there is a marine layer near the beach about half the time. Its really not that bad.

I really can’t tell you how excited I was this morning when I saw the email blast from Mad Decent announcing the Major Lazer x La Roux = Lazerproof mixtape. We are huge fans of both camps and couldn’t agree more that this colab is a perfect match. The 14 track mixtape has been in such demand today that the Mad Decent website has been “experiencing technical difficulties.” You can grab it from their website, or head over to zshare for a direct link.

Trouble Gang Mixtape by Rock Steady
Happy Friday! Cant believe its almost May, where did the first four go? For anyone that has been keeping track, we are coming up on the one year mark of my release of the May Day! mixtape. Well, after a hiatus from mixing, I decided to step it up and with the help of Nick Todd I have been messing around with Ableton Live. Its amazing that I was able to put together mixtapes with Garage Band for so long without throwing my computer into oncoming traffic. In preparation for a bigger project I am giving you a short four song mix I just put together.
The first track was so fun to work with and where I really fell in love with ableton. Taking 3oh!3’s new track House Party and mashing it with the Euro sound of Swedish House Mafia brings the track to another level and is prime to kill the dance floor. Hope you like the minimix, there will be more to come.
