I put together a quick edit from the Childish Gambino show my girlfriend Brittany and I went to on Monday. It was a great show. He came out with a comedy set, complimented with awesome short videos and graphics projected up on a screen. The music set included a 4 piece band and all his recent LP and mixtape hits. I used a Photojojo.com iPhone 8x telephoto lens which also has focal control and I’m pumped on the results! I had to brace my phone on a ledge to keep it steady. For a small venue it’s an awesome extension to get some good close shots.

Making Future Magic: iPad light painting

This amazing film by Dentsu London and BERG explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.

We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.

In his work he began with an existing book and sealed its edges, creating an enclosed vessel full of unearthed potential. He cut into the surface of the book to dissect through it from the front. Working with knives, tweezers and surgical tools to carve one page at a time, exposing each layer while cutting around ideas and images of interest. Nothing inside the books is relocated or implanted, only removed. Images and ideas are revealed to expose alternate histories and memories. His work is a collaboration with the existing material and its past creators and the completed pieces expose new relationships of the book’s internal elements exactly where they have been since their original conception.

Dettmer is originally from Chicago, where he studied at Columbia College. He currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA.

My Dad, Tom Kimmell, has been a professional photographer for over 25 years. When I was younger he spent some time working for the local newspaper, The Gazzette in Colorado Springs. As a freelancer he’s found himself on adverntures all over the world. Along with the launch of a new site this year (http://www.tomkimmellphotography.com/) he started a Photo of The Day tumblr blog. In Ants World Episode 5 I visited an inspiring school in Harlem, New York called Democracy Prep Charter School. In spite of the problems with education in America it was amazing to see a school making a difference in the lives of children and on the forefront of education reform. Contemporary Cantilever House Design

The pictures simply do not do justice to the view from this incredible set cantilevered constructions, jutting out from the core structure of the house and seeming to hover in space. JCB architects took their inspiration for this twisting, turning and thrusting form from a fallen log with its associated branches.With only thin clear glass between the patio and the world below, one gets a sense of standing on the edge of the void. In another thrust deck area sits a stunning nearly-edgeless exterior swimming pool – all traces of support are clearly not visible in these pictures nor to visitors.The experience of moving through this home is intentionally staged at each step of the way, from the winding entryway to the expansive views exposed once inside. The incredible living and gathering areas thrust out in the cantilevers also serve to provide privacy to other interior areas.A combination of weathered wood and dark paint help bring the house back down to Earth – blending it with the surrounding natural landscape. Hidden beams hold up some truly suspended parts of the building while thin columns support others thrust sections. However, the more modest side of the home contains the entrance so as not to spoil the surprise for guests or the view for passers by.

We really do. This place is awesome. The city of Boulder, along with several community partners, is launching a viral marketing campaign with the theme: “I Love Boulder.”

“We want to celebrate what everyone loves about Boulder, whether it’s the restaurant chef who opened here instead of Paris or New York or the entrepreneur who was inspired by the scenery,” city spokesman Patrick von Keyserling said. “Let’s talk about the positive things that we love about our community.”

There’s definitely a large entrepreneurial community which has been a vital piece of helping Rage Digital make it through the start up speed bumps. When we saw this campaign we knew we wanted to be involved! Rage is currently developing an app to tag photos with an I Love Boulder virtual sticker. Once you tag your Boulder moment upload and it via Twitter, Facebook and Flickr to share and spread the Boulder love.

We’ll post and update when the app goes live!
