New (Orleans) Curren$y Mixtape Dropping Super Bowl XLIV Sunday

That’s right kidos, New Orleans own Curren$y is dropping a new mixtape in conjunction with his hometown’s first ever Super Bowl appearance this Sunday. Although my heart was ripped out and smashed with a Gallagher mallet by the Vikings tragic season ending overtime game against the Saints two weeks back, I am going to be pulling for N.O. to trounce the Colts and will be bumping the new tracks all day. Here is a sick video of the song “Vision” that will be on the “Where is Smokee Robinson?” mixtape, links to follow on Sunday.

Well it was no Vegas but Denver rocked this years S.I.A. (SnowSports Industries America) Snow Show. The best booths especially captured buyers attention.

Amongst the best were…

Along with their fun colorful collection, Neff added a clean refined line this year that I especially liked, with free beanie giveaways they take home the prize for best S.W.A.G.

With a non stop live DJ, random dance parties and live art, Skull Candy had the most entertaining and perhaps most talked about booth at the show.

Year after year Coal makes the best hats in the business there clean lined wood grain display goes perfectly with the look they have come up with.

We love Airblaster and they know it therefor less is more. No need for fancy tricks here a simple tent and the product speaks for itself.

Volcom was the only booth doing design your own free tees and hats which is soooooo Volcom.

With the budget they shell out for these things it would be hard not to kill it. With a Casino theme and everything visible to everyone, Burton is not ashamed to say they still own the industry.

My personal favorite, Holden had the most tasteful and stylish display at the show. As for their product, they keep it so secret I can only reveal that they have some of the most unique best looking stuff coming out for 2011.

ts fairly unanimous up here in the BDN cloud, Miike Snow was our favorite artist of 2009. While last years efforts by Phoenix, Florence and the Machine, Curren$y, Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Major Lazer, Little Boots, La Roux and DatA sit at the top of our list, Miike Snow takes the crown. Their self titled release is a masterful collection from start to finish and the many remixes it has spawned only continue the journey into their unique sound. Check out this club ready remix of Silvia that is my personal favorite and be sure to turn it up to 11.

Very soon, we’ll know whether Apple has changed the world again. The company has scheduled a press conference for 1 p.m. Eastern time today. For months now, the rumor mills and blogosphere have been abuzz with speculation that Apple will debut a new class of device based on the iPod Touch and an updated version of the iPhone OS that uses a larger screen (10 or 11 inches diagonal, perhaps 7) to provide a multitouch, gesture-based media slate for e-books, electronic magazines, Web browsing, video playback, and apps.

In other words, if the rumors are right, this device won’t be a tablet-style MacBook running Mac OS X with handwriting recognition added à la the failed generations of Windows tablet PCs. Instead, it will be a device for presenting, finding, and organizing media content, as well as running the wide of apps that iPhone users now enjoy. It should also run existing iPhone apps.

ATL-reppin’, MC Donnis spent a lot of 2009 climbing the hip-hop ranks with live performance videos, profuse freestyles, and attention-getting tracks that leaked much to our delight. Having a mixtape with 10 Deep ain’t a bad thing either, just ask Kid Cudi and Wale.

All this grindin’ brought Donnis a deal to release the single “Gone”, with a video under A-Tracks, Fool’s Gold label. I recently caught up with Donnis to talk music, plans for 2010, his fashion game, and how he is definitely no longer the underdog. -AntHull

In a day and age where everything is becoming customized from our houses and cars to our facebook and myspace pages why are we settling for the standardized icons that our computers give us. Recently I went to iconarchive.com iconcubic.com and interfacelift.com to doenload some free Icons to spiff up my desktop. They have everything from a slight alteration of your existing icons like a color change, to a complete personal makeover allowing every icon to reflect your individual self. For those of you who are Mac users, just highlight a folder, your hard drive, an application, or anything that you can open and hold command + i and the info box will open, simply drag the icon you have choosen to the upper left corner where the current icon is and Wah Lah! you have a custom icon. Pimp Your Desktop!

US Olympic Snowboard Team Announced :: Go Louie! Ride Omatic!

All bad snowboard news aside (Kevin Pearce, Danny Davis) the US Olympic Snowboard Team has been announced. For the men we have Shaun White, Scotty Lago, and Omatic’s very own Louie Vito!

We have watched Louie progress every summer at Windells and seen him come up through the ranks of halfpipe riding. Last year brought him to the masses on Dancing with the Stars and this year could bring him an Olympic medal! We here at BDN will be cheering him on while shaking Cowbell2010 on our iPhones! And for the ladies we have Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, and Colorado’s own Gretchen Bleiler holding it down. Good luck team!

Amanda Marie’s vintage sewing patterns and children’s book characters are vivid and graphic bringing the audience a nostalgic warmth, drawing them into the hidden metaphors and relationships while hybridizing spray paint stencil graffiti and neo-neo expressionism with acrylic paint. Amanda Marie has been living and painting in Colorado since 2001. After two years at Rocky Mountain Collage of Art and Design she was represented at Andenken Gallery where she shows her paintings several times a year. Amanda lived in Denver for three years and now lives in the Fort Collins area. She has illustrated magazines, newspaper covers, and children’s books. After spending many hours milling over which Fixie/commuter bike to buy, I began to realize that the components and price were all within the same ballpark everywhere I looked. It came down to which one looked the best to me. I came across bigshotbikes.com a site similiar to republicbike.com (which I posted about a few months back) in that you can pick out the color of everything from the chain to the saddle to the rims. Big Shot takes the cake on Republic in the larger selection of colors, $35 price difference, and they are a colorado local company, building the bikes right next door in Fort Collins. The large number of color options makes for some pretty wild combinations. Here were some of the runners up.
